This spring, thirteen Lewis & Clark students and their faculty leader and alumni assistant leader will embark on a journey to study and explore Australia. From January to April 2013, the group will travel along the eastern coast of Australia, where they will take courses in contemporary Australian culture, Australian area studies, indigenous Australia, and natural Australia. The program will include field excursions to a variety of environments in Australia, including the urban centers of Sydney and Brisbane, rainforests and eucalypt forests, the arid Outback, and of course the Great Barrier Reef.
As a component of this study abroad program, the students will conduct informative tours of four different neighborhoods in the cities of Sydney and Brisbane. We will use DFS to record the students’ research about their chosen neighborhood, as well as to document the tours as we encounter them as a group.
